Essay Submissions

Underwired publishes personal essays (800-1200 words) every month and is always looking for new contributors. Essays should somehow relate to the chosen theme for the month and be on topics of interest to women. Underwired buys one-time rights, and payment is $100. All essays are considered on spec. Please be familiar with personal essay style of writing. Underwired does not accept submissions for fiction or poetry at this time. Have fun!

Submissions may be sent by regular mail to the attention of the Editor (PO Box 5128 Louisville, Ky 40255-0128). Essays will not be returned unless you include a self-addressed stamped envelope. You may also send submissions via email to editor at uwmag dot com. Please include a brief bio with your submission. The deadline for all essay submissions is the 15th of the month for placement in the following month (Oct 15th for the Nov issue...). Underwired can not be held liable for the loss or damage of any work submitted for consideration.

Cover Art Submissions

Underwired features different artwork on the cover every month. We look for images that play on the chosen themes and incorporate the female form. You may submit slides or photos of your work via regular mail to the attention of the Editor (PO Box 5128 Louisville, Ky 40255-0128). Artwork will not be returned unless you include a self-addressed stamped envelope. You may also submit work via email to editor at uwmag dot com. Underwired does not pay for cover art at this time, but we do offer an artist bio (complete with contact/purchase information) in the front house pages of the magazine.

Please include a brief bio with your submission. The deadline for all artwork is the 15th of the month for placement in the following month (Oct 15th for the Nov issue...). Underwired can not be held liable for the loss or damage of any work submitted for consideration.
