Essay Submissions
Underwired publishes personal essays (800-1200 words) every month and is always looking for
new contributors. Essays should somehow relate to the chosen theme for the month and be on
topics of interest to women. Underwired buys one-time rights, and payment is $100 (Please note that payment, along with a copy of published piece, is sent when checks are processed. This could take between 30-60 days. Please do not email within this timeframe as we can not respond to all email inquiries due to the volume that we receive). All essays
are considered on spec. Please be familiar with personal essay style of writing. Underwired does
not accept submissions for fiction or poetry at this time. Have fun!
Submissions may be sent by regular mail to the attention of the Editor (PO Box 5128 Louisville,
Ky 40255-0128). Essays will not be returned unless you include a self-addressed stamped
envelope. You may also send submissions via email to editor at uwmag dot com.
Please include a brief bio with your submission. The deadline for all essay submissions is the 10th
of the month for placement in the following month (Oct 10th for the Nov issue...).
Underwired can not be held liable for the loss or damage of any work submitted for
consideration.
